BOURIE is an avant-garde-classic womenswear brand based in Seoul, focused on tailoring and conceptual design. The brand was founded by Eunhye Jo in 2014, and has been presenting womenswear collections for each season since then.
BOURIE is derived by the way of atelier for experimental and sensual tailoring, which also exposes conceptual artistic subject matters through fabric, photography, film, and artwork. Collections are designed and developed in Seoul, and exhibited internationally during Seoul and Paris fashion weeks, with a runway show in Seoul.
The brand embodies the contradiction of kitsch and classic wear. Kitsch elements are played against bold and strong silhouettes to create a conceptual attitude. The idea of kitsch formal-classic expresses sensuous tailoring along with avant-garde details that depict solid and structured shapes, conveying an abstract mood with an added sense of humour.
Next to the main line BOURIE is divided into 3 sub-brands; FEUTRE PAR BOURIE, a label for daily bags using felt fabric, TRICOT PAR BOURIE for knitwear, and L’ÉPISODIQUE PAR BOURIE for accessories. Additionally, a new line for daily wear named BOURIE BOURIE PAR BOURIE will be introduced with the upcoming Spring Summer 19 collection.
